Cat Stolz, LMT: Massage Therapist, Owner
Cat is a Massachusetts state-licensed, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. She graduated from New Hampshire Institute of Therapeutic Arts’ comprehensive massage therapy program, studying techniques ranging from traditional Swedish relaxation massage to Neuromuscular Therapy for Postural Reintegration, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage. Cat continues to further her education by participating in courses on injury-specific techniques, orthopedic massage and other therapies. Cat employs a combination of the techniques in her toolbox designed to treat each individual’s needs. She often utilizes Core Stones heated soapstone cylinders as a therapeutic tool to help release tight muscles and increase client comfort when addressing deep tissue dysfunction. She particularly enjoys educating clients about “basic body maintenance,” and what they can do at home to continue and expand their healing. Cat’s clients typically come to her for relief from headaches, chronic pain, shoulder and back issues, sciatic pain, stress and anxiety.
Before becoming a massage therapist, Cat completed her bachelors degree at Smith College in Northampton MA, focusing on book and paper arts. She has taught art workshops with older elementary school students and continues to create her own artwork. Cat’s time in Northampton sparked her interest both in alternative and holistic medicine and community-based healthcare.
In addition to her massage practice, Cat utilizes meditation and breathing techniques from Kundalini Yoga to help clients deal with stress and anxiety on their own — she finds this yoga of awareness to be essential to today’s fast-paced lives. She has also volunteered with the American Massage Therapy Association to put on an annual professional development conference for New England area practitioners. Cat’s own stress-relief valves include kundalini yoga, weightlifting, baking gluten-free treats, snuggling with her cats, cycling and kayaking.
